3rd Integrated Waste Management Expo & Environmental Summit

Ever since I was a kid, my dad taught me how to recycle. From learning about solar panels down to reusing paper and plastics, his teachings helped me become the frugal and, as much as possible, environment-friendly person I am today. Which is why I found the 3rd Integrated Waste Management Expo and Environmental Summit last August 10 very interesting!

Held last August 10-12 in SMX Aura, this initiative of the DENR-Environmental Management Bureau aims in creating awareness on environmental issues and how we'll be able to promote a lifestyle that helps support both sustainable products and practices.

Local govenments and other departments partnered together, as well as LGUs, NGOs, businesses and institutions. Forums and exhibitions were made to encourage participants to engage and gain valuable information to find eco-friendly solutions that are cost-efficient and practical.

During these three days, there were open forums and talks on waste management, responsible leadership on waste management, and how we can move forward as a nation in finding ways to deal with waste and climate change.

Along with these talks and forums, there were booths that displayed and sold sustainable products, from bags and accessories made from recycled materials down to pretty succulents to make our homes or office desks greener!

LGUs and organizations partenered together to help raise awareness with how they are able to properly deal with waste management and how we can, too. You can find MMDA, DILG, PIA, and other organizations participating in the commitment of proper waste management.

But remember, waste management does not only work with huge organizations and the government. It also starts with us. Once we begin working as a nation, we will be able to bring out the positive change we need to benefit both our environment and the country.

Start now! Even the little changes like saving paper and learning how to recycle at home will help loads! :)

  1. When I realized how many we were throwing in the trash we stopped buying plastic water bottles and started refilling glass ones. A small change that can have a great impact.
